Sugar Bristo & Wine Bar

Sugar Bristo & Wine Bar is located at the front of the Crescat Boulevard and is a restaurent with a very nice atmosphere. You can either dine inside or out in the open depending on your mood and the availability of seating. We prefer to sit outside as it's well lighted with a nice surrounding. Interior designing is well down as well as the exterior.

So, first we ordered the Bacon Butty at LKR 700 where there's an option for beef bacon as well. However, I went with the pork. It came with sides of picked veggies and potato wedges.

It was such a perfect dish that I ate slowly savoring the taste of each bite despite the fact that I was very hungry at the moment. The sandwich was generous with bacon and season very well it tasted like heaven in my mouth. The veggies were well seasoned as well and so were the potato wedges and they were very crispy adding on to the appetite. So, if you love bacon, this dish is the one for you and worth its price as well.

Then we ordered a main by the name "Jerk Spiced and Oven Roasted Half Chicken with Red Wine Jus" at LKR 1200. As said in the menu this came with the chef's choice of veggies, potato wedges and mashed potatoes.

The chicken as expected was spicy but still lacked the flavorful experience we expected. Except for the spices it was nothing out of the ordinary and we thought it was also a little overcooked on that day which might not always be the case. The veggies and potato wedges were consistent in taste while the red wine jus was well made and did complement the chicken making it much better.

This however, I do not think does justice for your money or tummy.

We ordered virgin mojitos for drinks and these were extra minty. They did however provided plenty of sugar syrup on request so that we could bring it down to our tolerance levels.

For dessert we go an Old fashioned warm Chocolate Brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream at LKR 550. It was sweet but yet not too sweet. They've mastered in the art of making brownies at the perfect sweetness-level. :D It was lovely along with the vanilla ice-cream and I'm sure would be a treat for anyone with a sweet tooth.

We also got Seasonal tropical food kebabs at LKR 400 which came with two of such like in the picture.

The fruit were fresh and also very photogenic. However, we do not think you should be paying that amount for a few pieces of fruit. Not that we expected anything extraordinary when it said fruit kebabs. But we tried so that you don't have to. :p But still if you aren't a fan of anything else on the dessert list or you love fruit, you'd like it.

So all in all Sugar was a lovely experience. The staff was very attentive as well and will make suggestions if you do ask them as they suggested us of the brownies. The food got a little late but probably because the place was full when we got there. It's a nice place for a date, hangout with friends and also for a business meeting.
